California medical marijuana lawyer Jessica McElfresh was interviewed by NBC 7 San Diego about the city of La Mesa’s Measure U allowing the operation of legal medical marijuana dispensaries.
McElfresh co-authored Measure U, which was approved by La Mesa voters in November 2016 and permits legal medical marijuana cultivation and manufacturing in addition to dispensaries.
The city on Jan. 9 conducted a workshop for people interested in opening dispensaries and had planned to begin accepting applications shortly after. However, because of significant interest in dispensary applications, the city has delayed the start date for submitting applications.
In the meantime, illegal dispensaries currently operating in La Mesa won’t be subject to code enforcement.
