70 Percent of Funds Recovered in California Asset Forfeiture Case

Jul 10 2015, by Jessica McElfresh in Asset Forfeiture, Case Results

An entrepreneur in his mid-30s recently hired California asset forfeiture lawyer Jessica McElfresh to help recover assets seized. His cousin on the opposite side of the country in New York had sent the client $25,000 in cash via FedEx for a wedding present. However, the cousin put the cash inside of a hollowed-out glow pet, which was flagged and intercepted en route.

Eventually, the cousin in New York asked our client to send cash to help him start a hardwood flooring business. The client’s wife was not a particular fan of this cousin and so the client sent the money without telling his wife.

Attorney Jessica McElfresh worked diligently to recover the client’s funds. She sought out the cousin to provide receipts for his business, but unfortunately there were only a handful of receipts. Despite not having exact documentation, Jessica was able to recover $17,500 of the original $25,000 for the client.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
