Minor in Possession & Fake ID Charges Reduced

Dec 14 2018, by Jessica McElfresh in Alcohol, Case Results, Criminal Defense, Misdemeanor

While many believe that underage drinking charges in San Diego are a certain rite of passage, these are real criminal charges with lasting implications. Effectively dealing with the situation can even be fairly painless, as long as you retain an experienced defense attorney.

Not long ago, attorney Jessica McElfresh assisted a young woman after she was approached at the Del Mar racetrack, and ultimately charged with possession of a fake ID and being a minor in possession of alcohol by undercover officers with The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC).

To avoid the trappings of these misdemeanors on her client’s record, attorney McElfresh negotiated to have the matter promptly resolved through the completion of a MADD impact panel, 24 hours of community service. Once these terms were met, the charges were reduced to a simple infraction for disturbing the peace with no long-term repercussions.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
