Student Enters Diversion Program To Dismiss Shoplifting Charge

Nov 04 2016, by Jessica McElfresh in Case Results, Criminal Defense, Theft

No matter the specific crime or jurisdiction, if you find yourself charged with any offense in San Diego, it is important to find a knowledgeable San Diego criminal defense attorney, who can effectively navigate the different court systems in the area and advocate for the best possible result. This was the lesson a college student learned after a seemingly innocent trip to a local military base ended with a shoplifting charge. Specifically, this young woman accompanied another female friend to the Post Exchange (PX) on the base, where both were accused of stealing cosmetics. Afterward, the woman was unsure of how a criminal charge on a military base would impact her future and decided to turn to the McElfresh Law in her time of need.

San Diego attorney Jessica McElfresh discussed the shoplifting charge in detail with her client and with extensive experience dealing with the military’s Judge Advocate General Corps (JAG), she began negotiating on her behalf. During these discussions with the assigned JAG officer, attorney McElfresh effectively facilitated her young client’s participation in a theft diversion program. After completing this program, the court will dismiss the charge, so she can easily move past this transgression without the trappings of a criminal conviction.

The outcome of an individual case depends on a variety of factors unique to that case. Case results do not guarantee or predict a similar result in any similar or future case.
