Bloomberg Law: May 28, 2020 – California, which represents the nation’s larges pool of licensed attorneys and the biggest legitimate cannabis market has just issued proper guidance on how to represent marijuana clients.
This may seem a little late in the game, but the delay stems from the fact that marijuana is still illegal under U.S. law. According to attorney McElfresh, “While other state bars have issued advisory opinions addressing cannabis, the opinion issued in recent days was the first from the Golden State…and basically says that California lawyers can’t be subject to discipline for practicing cannabis law if they follow some basic steps.”
